The Hygienist
I'm lying horizontal
You've got me in your power
I've been like this a minute
It seems more like an hour
I came in full of confidence
That when you saw my teeth
You'd say I'd cleaned them beautifully
But you've sunk that belief
Your probe of shiny metal
Has soon revealed the truth
My brushing's been too speedy
Round more than just one tooth
Where gum is joined to molar
The evidence is stark
Bacteria I'd failed to clear
Has now turned into plaque
The more that you examine
Both top and bottom jaw
The more I come to realise
I should not flout the law
Of brushing teeth with vigour
Interdens and then the floss
And never be so casual
I make hygienists cross.
