Swans of Bradford-on-Avon
Alongside bridge in Bradford
In heart of Saxon town
Where gently flows the Avon
A calm swan nestles down
Across the water drifts her mate
Dabbling down for food
While here with background traffic hum
She waits for coming brood
In previous years the river's flood
Has swept such nests aside
This Spring we wish them better luck
And family not denied.
